John Wood Trumpet
John Wood has played the trumpet in a variety of musical groups
during his musical career. He was a member of the University of
Delaware Wind Ensemble from 1978 through 1981, which toured
Europe in the summer of 1980 and performed under the direction of
Aaron Copland on one ocassion. He was a member of the Lakeland
Civic Band and the Hillcrest Concert Band (Cleveland, Ohio) from
1982 through mid 1987. In the summer of 1988, John toured Austria
with several other band members.
After moving back to Delaware, he performed with the Newark
Community Band and the Salem County Brass Society from 1987
through 1994.
In the beginning of 1995, John relocated to Sydney, Australia
and performed with the City of Sydney Wind Ensemble and the
Holroyd Brass Band. The City of Sydney Wind Ensemble were the
1996 Australia Concert Band Champions (Grade A) and they won two
New South Wales Concert Band competitions (Grade A) in 1996 and
1997.
In March, 1998, John relocated from Sydney to the
USA and rejoined the Salem County Brass Society. In 2003, he rejoined the Moonlight Brass Quintet and is currently a
member of both of these groups.
